About the Book

Creation.

What comes to mind when you read this word?  Do you think of tangible objects that you make with your hands, designing ideas, or the beginning of time and life itself?  In a spiritual context, it is common to think of the latter form of creation.  In ancient Egyptian religion, the creation of the First Time was an important moment that was contemplated through the ages in various regions of Egypt.  As a result, a number of mythologies and stories were developed to explain the First Time, also referred to as Zep Tepi.  However, in addition to creation of the First Time, ancient Egyptians recognized the power of creation within people’s daily lives, which in turn led to the realization that each dawn is Zep Tepi.  Every moment offers an opportunity to begin anew.  In the Kemetic Orthodox religion, we have embraced this concept of creation and apply it to our daily lives.  Several members of Kemetic Orthodoxy have come together to share what creation means to them by contributing various devotional works to this book, which includes artwork, hymns, academic essays, and more.  What does Creation mean to you?
